Baja Designs ELS
Baja Designs ELS
What is it?
- Baja Designs created a “score” system to try describing its own lights.
- It includes Blend Angle, “Blendability,” Distance, and Output.
- Blend Angle simply refers to the horizontal spread of the beam pattern.
- Blendability is a mathematical formula to try approximating a Gradient value across the whole beam pattern (smoothness).
- Distance is Peak Intensity, as described previously.
- Output is Effective Lumens, as described previously.
- Scores are presented in all four parts, for example: 82° / 6.0 / 229' / 1957
How do we use it at Diode?
- No one uses it other than Baja Designs.
- This scoring system is intentionally written to favor the optical style of Baja Designs product.
- The four-part “score” is very difficult to follow and compare.
