Luminous Flux (lumens)
Luminous Flux (lumens)
What is it?
- The total power of visible light (photons)
How do we use it at Diode?
- We use lumen measurements in a variety of ways, depending on the product:
- Raw (or calculated) lumens
- Measured lumens (full assembly)
- Measured Lumens (PCB or partial assembly) (NOTE: PCB or partial assembly is not a valid Measured Lumens measurement - see next section for more information)
- Effective Lumens
Note about Lumens and Color
- Luminous flux is a measurement of visible light. Therefore, colored lights will always have far lower lumen values. The lowest is red, since red wavelengths are low power. Infrared lights have zero lumens since they are not visible. Instead these are measured in total emission power.
