Intensity (candela)
Intensity (candela)
What is it?
- Intensity of light in a specific direction.
- This is usually reported as the maximum point of intensity (peak intensity).
- Some competitors say their lights are "brightest" because they have greater maximum intensity. This is not accurate. It would be more accurate to say they "shine the furthest" or have "more throw" or simply "greater intensity.“
How do we use it at Diode?
- We report the peak intensity on all of our lamps.
- Candela is used for all regulatory standards, to dictate how much light shine in specific directions.
- Candela is not used for bulbs because bulbs do not shine light in a specific direction.
