Distance
Distance
What is it?
- how far a light can shine.
- This is related to candela and lux as well.
- We define how much light (lux) is needed to see something in the distance. 0.25 lux is the minimum, or you could use 1 lux. We just do some math to see how far the light can shine to still provide that minimum value.
- For example, if we have a light that is 272,000 candela, we can use that calculator to find that we get 0.25 lux at 3422 feet. So we could advertise that light as "throws over 3400 feet."
How do we use it at Diode?
- We currently don't use this on product listings, but we occasionally use it with product features to say a light shines "a half mile away" or something like that.
